The Truck Field Mechanic comes in with knowledge of the position and could either be an A or B level mechanic. This position would be considered an experienced mechanic and would require little to no supervision, primarily working on larger repairs outside of the shop.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma of GED, mechanical schooling preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under our company policy, must be 21 years of age.
- CDL preferred
- A or B level mechanic
- Previous work experience with knowledge of gasoline and/or Diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, drive trains, and electrical systems
- Knowledge of working safely in a shop environment and around different types of tools and equipment
Advanced Mechanical Knowledge and Skills required:
- Ability to repair vehicles on a remote site.
- Ability to troubleshoot nad use independent judgement to repair equipment and call shop for parts.
- Ability to understand the workflow and disperse the daily job duties to other technicians.
- Advanced level mechanic requiring little to no supervision.
- Air brakes

- ASE certification in Brakes preferred
- All basic hand and air tools up to 1/2" drive
- Welding skills preferred
Truck Field Mechanic Responsibilities and Duties:
- Performs repairs, assigned primarily to larger repair projects that may take several days to complete.
- Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspensions, brake and air system on vehicles and equipment.
- Utilizes vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
- Preforms all work within Standard Repair Times and if there are deviations of the times report to shift supervisor.
- Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair time.
- Assists with road calls as needed.
- Assists senior mechanics or supervisors in the completion with Company and OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety practices.
